The invention discloses a self-adaptive cruise control method and device, relates to the technical field of intelligent driving, and is used for solving the problems of comfort reduction and energy consumption increase caused by frequent vehicle acceleration adjustment and large adjustment amplitude when the condition of a road in front of a front vehicle changes in the cruise process. The method comprises the steps of predicting whether a front vehicle accelerates or decelerates according to front road information of the front vehicle; according to the actual distance between the vehicle and the front vehicle, the speed of the vehicle and the speed of the front vehicle, the expected acceleration of the vehicle is determined, and it is determined that the vehicle is accelerated or decelerated; when the front vehicle and the vehicle are both accelerated or both decelerated, the acceleration is adjusted in a large range, and when the front vehicle and the vehicle are predicted to be accelerated or decelerated oppositely, the acceleration is adjusted in a small range. By setting different acceleration adjusting ranges, the speed change of the vehicle can be slowed down when specific conditions are met, the driving comfort is improved, and energy is saved.
