A marine vessel propeller (1), in use, for converting engine rotational power into thrust, and wherein the propeller is of the combined propeller (BUP) type arranged in a circular array of propeller blades (10) wherein the propeller blades (10) are a single workpiece comprising a blade portion (11) and a base portion (12). The base portion (12) has a substantially circular inner surface (120) in which a plurality of radially extending cylindrical recesses (121) are arranged, the recesses (121) being provided with flat end walls, and a fastening hole (13) arranged through the base portion (12) at the location of the recesses (121), a cylindrical insert (131) is provided with a hole parallel to the longitudinal axis of the insert (131) and is arranged to fit in the recess (121) such that the propeller blade (10) can be attached to the propeller shaft (2) by means of a fastening bolt (3) passing through the fastening hole (13) and the insert (131). The invention also relates to a corresponding propeller blade (10) and to a method for installing a marine vessel propeller.
