The present disclosure provides a pillar reinforcement using additive manufacturing. The invention relates to a reinforced pillar. The pillar includes a corner member and a reinforcing member. The reinforcement member is additive manufactured and may utilize functionally graded materials. The reinforcement member may be deposited directly on the corner member, or may be manufactured separately and thereafter coupled to the corner member. The reinforcing member includes a first component and a second component. In addition, the reinforcement member may include a third component that extends angularly from the first component and the second component to form a Y-shaped structure. The reinforcement member may include a plurality of attachment joints that facilitate consolidation and coupling of the reinforcement member with various vehicle components.
