The balloon has a first inflated state and a second inflated state in which the balloon has a different external geometry than in the first inflated state. The airbag control device is designed such that, if necessary, the airbag assumes a first inflated state when the seat (14) is in the first seat position and assumes a second inflated state when the seat (14) is in the second seat position. A vehicle (10) having such an occupant restraint system (30) is also provided.
