The invention relates to a control method and system for an unmanned material hoister. The method comprises the steps that goods are conveyed in, wherein whether a cage is located on the first layer or not is judged; if the cage is not on the first layer, waiting until the cage returns to the first layer; if the lifting cage is on the first layer, the goods are pushed to the lifting cage, the person exits the lifting cage, and the lifting cage is closed; selecting a target floor; judging whether an operation risk exists or not; if the operation risk exists, operation is stopped to be checked; if the operation risk does not exist, the cage is started to operate to the target floor; taking out the goods; judging whether an operation risk exists or not; if the operation risk exists, operation is stopped to be checked; if the operation risk does not exist, entering a waiting step; judging whether to wait for set time or not; if the set time is not passed, continuing to wait; if the set time passes, the cage is started; and the cage runs to the first layer. The problems of low operation efficiency and low safety risk of an existing material elevator can be solved.
