The vehicle automatic travel system is provided with: a communication unit which is provided so as to be independent of an unmanned automatic drive vehicle that travels in a predetermined area so as to be unmanned, and a manned drive vehicle that enters the predetermined area and has ended the transfer of the permission to drive; the wireless communication module can perform wireless communication with an unmanned automatic driving vehicle and a manned driving vehicle; and a control unit that is a control unit that is assigned a permission for driving from the manned vehicle by means of wireless communication, that controls the operation of each of the unmanned automatic vehicle and the manned vehicle on the basis of wireless communication, and that controls the operation of each of the unmanned automatic vehicle and the manned vehicle on the basis of wireless communication when the amount of communication of wireless communication exceeds a predetermined value. Control is performed so that the communication cycle of wireless communication with at least one of an unmanned autonomous vehicle and a manned vehicle is extended.
