A sensor (40) is housed within a sensor housing (42) which can be inserted into the bracket, the sensor housing comprising at least three mounting stub shafts (44, 46) projecting from the sensor housing, the sensor housing can be removably retained in the bracket by retaining each of the mounting stubs in a corresponding retaining element by means of the at least three mounting stubs. Each retaining element (12, 14, 16, 18; 112, 114, 116, 118; 112, 114, 116, 118; 212, 214, 216, 218) comprises a fixed support portion (32, 36; 132, 136; 232, 236) and elastic limbs (30, 34, 38; 130, 138; 230, 238) which are fixed at one end and free at the other end, the guide channels (31, 33; 131, 133; 231, 233) extending between each elastic limb and its respective fixed support portion, said guide channels being arranged to be inserted into the support (4; 231, 233) when the respective mounting stub (44, 46) is inserted into the support (4; 104, 104; 204), the corresponding mounting stub shaft is guided. Each elastic limb and the fixed support portion are arranged such that they define a retaining portion, whereby the mounting stub shaft is stopped and retained in the retaining portion by the biasing action of the elastic limbs when inserted into the bracket and has passed along the guide channel.
