The invention provides a follow-up light supplementing system. In the follow-up light supplementing system, a vehicle detection unit is used for detecting a to-be-photographed vehicle and acquiring real-time driving information of the to-be-photographed vehicle; the light source is used for emitting light for supplementing light to a to-be-photographed vehicle, and the light supplementing lens can diffuse the light emitted by the light source in parallel; the control unit is in communication connection with the vehicle detection unit and the light supplementing unit and can control the light supplementing unit according to the real-time driving information, obtained by the vehicle detection unit, of the vehicle, so that the light rays which pass through the light supplementing lens and are diffused in parallel track the license plate of the vehicle to be photographed for irradiation. Therefore, after the light emitted by the light source is diffused in parallel, large light spots are formed while the light intensity per unit area is effectively reduced, follow-up irradiation is carried out on photographing of the to-be-photographed vehicle, accurate light supplementing is carried out on the to-be-photographed vehicle, black vision of a driver is prevented from being influenced, and the driving safety is effectively improved.
