The invention provides a method and a device for automatically switching a vehicle driving mode. According to one aspect of the invention, the method for automatically switching the vehicle driving mode comprises the steps that the initial stroke of an accelerator pedal of the vehicle is determined, and the driving mode of the vehicle is a first driving mode; in response to the detected movement of the accelerator pedal in the acceleration direction, the stroke change rate of the accelerator pedal is determined, and the stroke change rate is calculated according to the stroke change amount of the accelerator pedal relative to the initial stroke and the time consumed by the change; comparing the travel change rate with a specified threshold value; and switching a driving mode of the vehicle to a second driving mode different from the first driving mode based on a result of the comparison.
