The invention discloses a petroleum pipeline patrol system and method, and the system comprises an aircraft which is used for carrying out the patrol of a petroleum pipeline and outputting patrol data; the monitoring center is used for controlling the aircraft and analyzing the patrol data output by the aircraft; the base station is used for communication between the aircraft and the monitoring center; the base station is in communication connection with the aircraft and the monitoring center. According to the invention, an automatic patrol function of an aircraft platform, a positioning function of a positioner, a thermal imaging principle of an infrared sensor, a gray level detection technology, a TLD tracking technology, a smell detection technology, and data transmission, airplane scheduling and charging functions of a mobile patrol car are combined together; through the positioning system of the positioner and the camera shooting function of the image collector, the whole pipeline line can be subjected to full-coverage patrol, the patrol range is enlarged, and the labor cost is reduced.
