The invention discloses a fault diagnosis method for a brake-by-wire system of a multi-axle commercial vehicle. The method comprises a step A, a step B, a step C, a step D, and a step E. The step A comprises the following detailed steps: A1, opening a CSV1 and a CSV2; A2, opening the PSV 1 and the PSV 2; A3, closing the SSV; and A4, closing the TSV. According to the invention, the fault of the brake-by-wire system of the multi-axle commercial vehicle is detected through a five-step method, and motor driving, MCS/MCU pressure buildup, and valve and wheel cylinder leakage performance are detected by using a double-power-assisted unit, double-MCU and three-pressure sensor system; the motor stroke and the judgment pressure threshold are convenient for actual measurement and calibration; a double-power-assisted unit and a double-MCU independent motor are used for driving, and a voltage building function is diagnosed; a three-pressure sensor carries out signal diagnosis; and leakage diagnosis and detection of the simulation valve, the main cylinder isolation valve, the pressure buildup cylinder isolation valve, the test valve, the pedal simulator and the wheel cylinder are rapid and comprehensive, operation is simple and convenient, faults can be found rapidly, and applicability is high.
