The invention discloses a self-excitation type retarded braking axle, which belongs to the technical field of automobile auxiliary braking, and comprises a retarded braking mechanism, a reversible motor mechanism, a half-axle mechanism and a control mechanism, the self-excitation type retarded braking axle is mainly applied to braking of a trailer, directly replaces an existing supporting axle of the trailer, and performs retarded braking on the trailer. Energy is recycled through the integrated generator, electric energy is provided for the retarding brake mechanism during working, and the reliability of the integrated axle and the stability of a vehicle power system are protected; the stored electric energy can be supplied to a motor winding, and performs boosting in starting for providing a driving force to the vehicle. According to the self-excitation type retarding brake axle, the retarder and the motor are integrally designed in the middle of the axle, and the half axle is detachable; the retarder is designed to be of a differential structure, and the original differential function of the axle is guaranteed; according to the self-excitation type retarding braking axle, the current of the magnet exciting coil of the retarding braking part is controlled, so that the braking torque is controlled in a gear and step-by-step mode.
