The invention relates to a crane double-brake braking method and system. The braking system comprises a first brake, a second brake, a weight sensor used for detecting the lifting weight, a first braking control loop used for controlling the first brake to work, a second braking control loop used for controlling the working state of the second brake, a first controller for alternately triggering the first braking control loop and the second braking control loop to close in a light load state so that the first brake and the second brake can act alternately, and a second controller for simultaneously triggering the first braking control loop and the second braking control loop to close in a heavy load state so that the first brake and the second brake can act simultaneously, wherein the weight sensor is connected to the first controller and the second controller. During light-load braking, one brake is started, and during heavy-load braking, the two brakes are synchronously started. Compared with the prior art, the reliability of the braking system can be improved, and the service life of the brakes is prolonged.
