The invention belongs to the technical field of automobile auxiliary driving, and particularly relates to a visual BSD system based on a millimeter-wave radar and a camera. The system comprises the millimeter-wave radar which is used for obtaining the physical feature data of a target object, the camera which is used for acquiring the image feature data of the target object and is convenient for classifying the target object, a controller module which is used for processing and analyzing the obtained feature data, calculating the alarm risk level of the target object and distinguishing the alarm risk level by using colors, and a display screen which is used for displaying the comprehensive information of the target object and the alarm risk level. The invention further relates to a BSD method suitable for the system. According to the invention, the danger degree of the target object to the vehicle can be displayed more visually and strikingly, the response and judgment time of a driver in the driving process is shortened, the driver can quickly make driving actions according to the alarm risk level of the target object, collision between the target object and the vehicle is avoided, and therefore the driving safety is improved, and the probability of vehicle loss or casualties is reduced.
