The invention discloses an elevator speed governor. A main shaft is supported by a second one-way bearing and a third one-way bearing. A rope wheel is connected with the main shaft through a first one-way bearing. A first detection mechanism body is fixed on the side face of the rope wheel and keeps rotating synchronously with the rope wheel. A second detection mechanism body is fixed on the main shaft and keeps synchronous rotation with the main shaft. The locking directions of the first one-way bearing, the second one-way bearing and the third one-way bearing are opposite. When the first detection mechanism body detects that the rotating speed of the rope wheel is greater than a first angular speed set value, a first pawl triggers a first safety switch; and when the second detection mechanism body detects that the rotating speed of the main shaft is greater than a second angular speed set value, a second pawl triggers a second safety switch. The elevator speed governor is more stable in operation, low in operation noise and small in axial installation size.
