The invention relates to a circuit unit (1) for controlling load currents of an electrical load (RL). The circuit unit (1) comprises a switch logic (2), at least n switch elements (Q1-Q7) with n >=2 resistance elements (R2-R7) with m >=1. The resistance elements (R2-R7) can be bridged by the switch elements (Q1-Q7), and the switch logic (2) is designed in such a way as to increase the load current in stages up to an end value by an activating sequence of the switch elements (Q1-Q7). The invention further relates to a method for controlling load currents of the electrical load (RL).
