The invention discloses a container weighing method and system, and the method comprises the steps of driving a Z-axis moving mechanism of a hoisting device to move to a set height according to the distance between the hoisting device and the top of a container after the total weight of a vehicle loaded with the container is weighed, and controlling an XY-axis moving mechanism of the hoisting device to obtain the position of a hoisting hole of the container; after the XY-axis moving mechanism and the Z-axis moving mechanism are driven to drive a lifting appliance to descend to the position of the lifting hole and lock the container, driving the lifting appliance to lift to finish the vertical lifting of the container; and weighing the net weight of the vehicle after the container is lifted, and obtaining the weight of the articles in the container according to the total weight of the vehicle, the net weight of the vehicle and the self-weight of the container. The weight of articles in the container is obtained according to the total vehicle weight, the net vehicle weight and the self-weight of the container, and the container does not need to be unloaded and then weighed, so that the authenticity of the weighing data is guaranteed; when the container is hoisted, the position of the hoisting hole of the container is automatically obtained, and the full-automatic unattended weighing is achieved.
