A master cylinder for a braking system is described. The master cylinder includes a chamber (120) delimited by a piston (110) and supplied from a brake fluid reservoir installed on the top of the master cylinder by an end fitting engaged in a nozzle on the body of the master cylinder. The piston (110) has a nose (111) of reduced section upstream of its skirt (112) guided in the bore hole (102) of the master cylinder (100) and the nozzle (104) is connected to the chamber (120) by a drill hole (105) issuing into the chamber (120) at least partly upstream of the piston (110) in rest position. A valve module (200) is installed in the drill hole (105) to manage communication between the reservoir and the chamber (120) as a function of the position of the piston (110) and the pressure in the chamber (120) with respect to the pressure in the reservoir.
