The invention discloses a heating device and method for front window glass. The heating device comprises an automatic heating contactor, a first auxiliary contact, a temperature control switch, an electric heater, a heating power supply and a control power supply, wherein the electric heater is installed on the front window glass and is connected with the heating power supply through the first auxiliary contact; the first end of the automatic heating contactor is connected with a high-voltage end of the control power supply; the second end of the automatic heating contactor is connected with the first end of the temperature control switch; the second end of the temperature control switch is connected with a low-voltage end of the control power supply, and the automatic heating contactor is used for controlling a first auxiliary contact point. The temperature control switch is automatically closed when detecting that the temperature of the external environment is lower than a first threshold value; at the moment, the automatic heating contactor is powered on from the control power supply to control the first auxiliary contact point to be closed, so the electric heater heats the front window glass under the action of the heating power supply; and therefore, fog or frost or even ice on the front window glass of the motor train unit can be automatically eliminated in time, inconvenience in driving is avoided, and the driving safety of the motor train unit is guaranteed.
