The invention relates to analyzing component frequency by using internet of things sensors and sensor positions on escalators. There is provided a monitoring system for monitoring an escalator, and the system comprises a local gateway device; and a sensing device wirelessly communicated with the local gateway device through a short-range wireless protocol, and the sensing device comprises a frequency detection device configured to detect the frequency data of the escalator, wherein the sensing device is configured to obtain a specific frequency of a component of the escalator and detect at least one of the change in the specific frequency of the component to a sub-frequency, a directional offset of the specific frequency of the component, and the change in a harmonic of the specific frequency of the component in response to the frequency data.
