The invention relates to a steering gear mechanism for a steering system of a motor vehicle comprising at least a housing (1), a gear wheel (2), a pinion (3) intermeshing with the gear wheel (2) and a pinion shaft (4) comprising the pinion (3). The pinion shaft (4) is mounted on one side of the pinion (3) in a fixed bearing (6), which comprises a pivot bearing (9), in which the pinion shaft (4) is received. The pivot bearing (9) itself is received in a fixed bearing sleeve (14). The fixed bearing (6) comprises a pivot ring (15), which has an outer ring (19) and an inner ring (16), which are connected to each other by means of one or more torsion webs in such a way that pivoting about a pivot axis defined by the one or more torsion webs is enabled, the inner ring (16) being received in the fixed bearing sleeve (14) and the outer ring (19) being mounted within the housing (1). A steering gear mechanism according to the invention furthermore comprises an adjusting device, by means of which the position of the outer ring (19) of the pivot ring (15) is adjustable within the housing (1), at least in respect of the directions which are aligned perpendicular to the longitudinal axis (31) of the outer ring (19) and to the pivot axis. As a result of the relocatability of the outer ring (19) associated with said adjustability of the position of the outer ring (19), in combination with the support of the pinion shaft (3) on the gear wheel (2), a specific influence of the torsion or of the torsion webs and thus the cushioning of the pinion shaft (4) against the gear wheel (2) can be realized.
