The invention relates to a heavy haul railway AT power supply capacity calculation method; when the method is used, an AT power supply heavy haul railway traction cable cut-through power supply scheme is calculated, mathematical models of CTN equivalent impedance, current distribution, voltage loss, CTN tail end network voltage and other electrical parameters are deduced, then the calculation method of the power supply distance is obtained, and the power supply capacity of the scheme is judged. The current heavy haul railway AT power supply scheme is convenient to reform, so that the current heavy haul railway AT power supply system has greatly reduced electric split phases, improved power supply capability and prolonged power supply distance, the operation of a locomotive is safer and more reliable, and the operation speed is improved.
