The invention relates to an automatic shunting method and device and a train control system. The method comprises: receiving route information transmitted by a defense adjusting system, determining the protection position according to the route information, the route information comprising signal machine identification of a turn-back signal machine, and the turn-back signal machine being any signal machine on a turn-back station track; obtaining the residual spacing distance between the tail part of the train and the turn-back signal machine, and determining the limiting speed of the train according to the protection position; and sending the remaining interval distance, the limiting speed and the signal machine identifier to the ATO, so that the ATO controls the train to turn back when the tail portion crosses the turn-back signal machine. Thus, when the train enters the turn-back station track, the train can be stopped and turned back when the tail portion of the train crosses any signal machine, the signal machine at the farthest end of the path does not need to be used for controlling the train to turn back, and therefore the automatic shunting efficiency can be improved, the transportation efficiency can be improved, and the transportation energy consumption can be reduced.
