A vehicular electronic control system (1) is provided with: a vehicular master device (11); a vehicle power source determining unit (92a) which determines if a vehicle power source is on or off; a rewriting determining unit (92b) which determines whether a program is being rewritten; a first power source self-holding determining unit (92c) which, if it is determined that the vehicle power source is off and it is determined that a program is being rewritten, determines that self-holding of the power source by a vehicular slave device is required; and a power source self-holding instructing unit(92d) which, if it is determined that self-holding of the power source is required, instructs the vehicular slave device to enable a first power source self-holding circuit. The vehicular slave device enables the first power source self-holding circuit if instructed to enable the first power source self-holding circuit by the vehicular master device.
