An emergency deorbit device 10 provided to an artificial satellite 100 orbiting the globe comprises: a propulsion device 27 that generates thrust for causing the artificial satellite 100 to deorbit; areceiving unit 31 that receives repeating signals repeatedly emitted at intervals from a signal-emitting unit 21 of a satellite bus 3 in the artificial satellite 100; a detection unit 33 that, when the receiving unit 31 does not receive repeating signals or when the receiving unit 31 receives a deorbit command from the signal-emitting unit 21 or outside the artificial satellite during a set time,outputs a detection signal indicating the same; an activation device 35 that performs a process for activating the propulsion device 27 in response to the detection signal; and a power source device37 that is provided separately from a power source device 15 of the satellite bus 3, and that supplies electric power to the receiving unit 31, the detection unit 33, and the activation device 35.
