The invention provides an unmanned tower crane monitoring system and method. The unmanned tower crane monitoring system comprises a monitoring camera arranged on a tower crane, and the monitoring camera comprises a first camera, a second camera, a third camera, a fourth camera, a fifth camera, a sixth camera, a seventh camera and an eighth camera; the first camera is arranged on a rear arm of thetower crane, is a gunlock and faces a lifting winding drum; the second camera is arranged on a variable-amplitude trolley, faces the position of ta lifting hook, and is a zoom camera; the position configuration of the camera is reasonable, and a tower crane operator can clearly know the whole working environment of the tower crane; the lifting hook camera adopts a zoom camera, so that zooming is accurate, and images are clear; and in the operation process of the tower crane, the monitoring system can collect the operation data of the tower crane in real time and process the operation data, sothat the PLC of the tower crane can change parameters in time.
