The invention relates to the field of road weather automatic monitoring, in particular to a refined highway fog area chain type visibility monitoring and early warning system, which is mainly composedof a fog area information acquisition unit, a communication system, a platform management system and an information publishing unit, wherein the fog area information acquisition unit is used for directly monitoring the agglomerate fog information state on a highway and feeding back the information. The refined highway fog area chain type visibility monitoring and early warning system provided bythe invention is scientific in overall structure layout design, in the specific using process, can accurately and timely monitor and control the agglomerate fog information on the highway, greatly enhances the capability of dealing with atrocious weather, improves the traffic safety of the expressway, and reduces the occurrence of catastrophic traffic accidents of multi-vehicle continuous rear-endcollision caused by agglomerate fog on the expressway.
