In order to be able to evaluate the quality of individual images or videos captured from a vehicle (FZ) in a simple and cost-effective way, the invention proposes carrying out an evaluation of image quality (BWQ,G) on the basis of positions and/or movements of distinctive vehicle window components (FZSK), e.g those having markings (MK), in particular distinctive, e.g. artificially marked, windscreen wipers (WSSW) and/or rear window wipers (HSW), for reported positions (POSFZSK) of the vehicle window components (FZSK, WSSW, HSW) by means of a target-actual comparison of actual individual images(I-EB) or actual videos (I-VD) with target individual images (S-EB) or actual videos (I-VD), respectively, which are each captured from a vehicle (FZ), from an identical, vehicle-specific position relative to the vehicle window (FZS), depending on how well at least distinctive points, in particular the markings (MK), of the vehicle window components (FZSK, WSSW, HSW) can be recognised at target positions defined by the comparison for the reported positions (POSFZSK).
