The invention discloses a vehicle road indication sign recognition system and method, and belongs to the field of internet-of-vehicle systems. The system comprises a road traffic sign with a two-dimensional code and vehicle-mounted terminal equipment externally connected with a front camera. The vehicle-mounted terminal equipment identifies the two-dimensional code through the camera, and then rapidly identifies the corresponding road traffic sign. In addition, a cloud server of the dispatching management center can be accessed by means of the vehicle position information and the acquired two-dimensional code information to acquire the surrounding road condition information so as to assist driving and route optimization. When emergency situations such as short-time road construction or traffic accidents and emergency rescue occur, related information is shared with the dispatching management center, and surrounding vehicles can obtain corresponding information to avoid the emergency situations. The vehicle uses the two-dimensional code to quickly identify the road traffic sign, and timely obtains the emergency road condition information of the surrounding road section through the dispatching management center, thereby facilitating the optimization of a driving route, reducing the congestion, and facilitating the interconnection of vehicles and roads and the construction of an intelligent road network.
