The invention provides a ship steering control method and system for an electric steering engine, and the method comprises the steps: taking a common PID control strategy as an improvement target, employing a PID control strategy based on parameter optimization, carrying out the modeling of the electric steering engine, building a motion control equation of a ship, automatically solving a rudder angle through a PID control algorithm and a smooth filtering algorithm. Negative effects caused by large starting of an electric steering engine executing mechanism at the initial moment are effectively avoided; by adding limitation on the steering times, noise caused by frequent steering of the ship is reduced, and the invisibility of the ship is improved; by controlling the electric steering engine, the steering requirement of the electric steering engine on a ship is met; by combining with an existing manual control mode, reliable and stable sailing of the ship is guaranteed. By building theship steering system of the electric steering engine, which is high in response speed and high in control precision, the rudder angle can be quickly adjusted, the rudder angle can be controlled moreaccurately, the steering frequency is reduced, and the control process is simplified.
