A method (300) for regenerating a filter device (115) is described which is configured to collect brake particles (212) generated by a friction brake (110) and store them. The method (300) comprises the steps: determining (301) that at least one boundary condition which makes possible and/or permits the execution of regeneration of the filter device (115) is met. Furthermore, the method (300) comprises, in reaction thereto, causing (302) brake particles (212) stored in the filter device (115) to be removed from the filter device (115).
