This brake deterioration assessment device (1) has: a control unit (2) that performs control to gradually increase the value of the current supplied to a motor (21) in a state in which a brake (22) that restricts the rotation of the motor (21) is closed; a torque estimation unit (4) that estimates a brake torque value on the basis of the value of the current supplied to the motor (21); and a brakedeterioration assessment unit (7) that compares the brake torque value estimated by the torque estimation unit (4) with a reference value and assesses deterioration of the brake (22).
