The invention provides a vertical pumping unit with an anti-falling device, and relates to the technical field of petroleum machinery. The vertical pumping unit comprises bases and a steel rope, wherein racks are respectively connected to the outer walls of the opposite sides of the tops of the two bases, reverse motors are fixedly connected to both sides of the outer wall of the top of a fixed seat, balance blocks are respectively arranged in the two racks, and friction plates are fixedly connected to one end, which protrudes from the balance blocks, of two sliding seats. The friction plates,a sliding rod, a connecting block and a connecting rod form the anti-falling device, when the steel rope is broken, the balance blocks on the both sides can quickly fall, the inclined connecting rodbecomes horizontal, the friction plates are ejected by virtue of the sliding seats, the balance blocks are prevented from continuously falling by the friction between the friction plates and the innerwalls of the racks, so that the pumping unit is prevented from being damaged by the falling of the balance blocks, and the two reverse motors rotate in opposite reverse directions so as to pull a fixed pulley to reciprocate up and down, so that the workload of the reverse motors is reduced.
