The invention relates to an autonomous aircraft for rescuing injured persons, as well as a rescue system with at least one such autonomous aircraft and the use of the autonomous aircraft as a mobile rescue station. It is provided that the autonomous aircraft is equipped with a means for determining a location and providing information and a communication means. With the aircraft according to the invention, the injured persons, medical personnel and/or the means for the care of injured persons can be reached quickly and independently of the prevailing traffic by a first-aid doctor and, if necessary, transported from an accident site to a hospital. The aircraft is part of a rescue system in which a rescue dispatching center receives emergency calls and coordinates the use of a variety of aircraft according to the invention.
