The 4: 1 counterweight side middle machine room-less elevator comprises a lift car arranged in a shaft, a counterweight and a traction system which is connected with the lift car and the counterweight, the counterweight is arranged on the front side of the lift car; the traction system comprises a traction wheel,a counterweight diversion sheave, car bottom diversion sheaves, a car side top diversion sheave and a counterweight side top diversion sheave; the counterweight diversion sheave is arranged at the topof the counterweight, an acute included angle is formed between the axis of the counterweight diversion sheave and the side wall line of the shaft; the plurality of car bottom diversion sheaves are located at the front end and the rear end of the bottom of the lift car separately, the axas of the car bottom diversion sheaves are parallel to the side wall of the shaft; the counterweight side top diversion sheave and the lift car side top diversion sheave are arranged on the left side and the right side of the lift car respectively; and the axis of the counterweight side top diversion sheave and the axis of the car side top diversion sheave are both perpendicular to the side wall of the shaft. According to the 4: 1 counterweight side middle machine room-less elevator, the elevator shaft utilization rate is increased, and the requirement of an elevator for the shaft plane size is reduced.
