The present invention relates to a method for determining a maximum storage capacity of an energy store (28), in particular as a drive battery of a vehicle (26) with an electrical drive, including thesteps of determining a state of charge of the energy store (28) of the vehicle (26), charging the energy store (28) until it reaches its maximum amount of charge, completely discharging the energy store (28) using a separate energy storage unit (20) for receiving the charge of the energy store (28), wherein an amount of charge transferred from the energy store (28) to the energy storage unit (20)is captured, and outputting the transferred amount of charge upon complete discharging of the energy store (28) as the maximum capacity of the energy store (28). The present invention further relatesto the energy store (28), especially to a charging device (10) for quick charging of an energy storage of a drive battery of a vehicle (26) of an electric drive.
