The invention discloses a smart city traffic system based on an electromagnetic suspension rail and a method thereof. The system comprises a transportation device, a magnetic suspension device, a transformation device, an identification device, vehicle body controllers and a server, wherein the transportation device comprises magnetic suspension vehicle bodies, rail hovering mechanisms, landing driving mechanisms, landing moving rails, vehicle body opening and closing doors and building opening and closing doors, the magnetic suspension device comprises a ferromagnetic guide rail, vehicle bodyelectromagnets and guide rail braking grooves, the transformation device comprises rail rotating shafts, rail suspension frames, suspension placing grooves, brake telescopic mechanisms and vehicle body braking blocks, the identification device comprises vehicle body cameras, radar sensors and vehicle speed sensors, and the vehicle body controllers are arranged in the magnetic suspension vehicle bodies. The smart city traffic system adopts a magnetic suspension design principle, and the magnetic suspension vehicle bodies can be suspended outside a building wall through electromagnetic force and can be freely lifted and driven.
