The invention provides a method and device for determining a signal lamp period and timing change time and traffic duration, and relates to the field of public transportation. The signal lamp period determination method comprises the steps of firstly obtaining a plurality of passing time of a vehicle passing through a stop line of an intersection where a signal lamp is located; then, respectivelycalculating a variable coefficient of a complementation result of each candidate period relative to the different passing time; and finally, selecting the candidate period of which the variable coefficient meets the requirement as the working period of the signal lamp. According to the signal lamp period determination method, the variation coefficient is introduced to evaluate the rationality of the complementation results of different candidate periods, and then the specified candidate period is reversely deduced as the signal lamp working period, so that the accuracy of calculating the signal lamp working period is improved.
