The invention provides a rotating motor capable of suppressing performance degradation and reducing eddy current loss of a rotor, and an elevator traction machine system including the rotating motor.This rotating motor (100) is provided with: a rotor (1) and a cylindrical stator (2), wherein the rotor has a rotor core (3), a plurality of permanent magnets (5), and a rotating shaft (8); the cylindrical stator (2) is provided on the outside in the radial direction of the rotor (1). On a surface of the rotor core (3), groups of a plurality of permanent magnets (5) arranged in the axial directionand in contact with each other are arranged side by side in the circumferential direction. The portions where the plurality of permanent magnets (5) arranged in the axial direction are in contact with each other are adjacent portions (10). The rotor core (3) has a recess (11) extending in the circumferential direction at a position, facing the adjacent portions (10) of the permanent magnet (5) inthe radial direction, of the surface.
