The invention provides an automatic locking and releasing mechanism with a limiting function and a locking and releasing operation method. The mechanism comprises a stepping motor, a lead screw, a locking guide rod, a guide sleeve, a locking end cover and a locking driven end. The bottom face of the locking driven end is a locking bottom face which is a plane, a conical hole is formed in the center of the locking bottom face of the locking driven end, and the locking bottom face of the locking driven end is located outside the locking guide rod in a sleeving mode through the conical hole. Theouter peripheral surface of the locking end cover is a conical surface matched with the conical hole; the locking driven end is used for being fixed to the bottom face of a vibration isolation object.The automatic locking and releasing mechanism with the limiting function has the advantages of being simple in structure, convenient to machine, capable of being repeatedly used, safe and reliable inmechanism movement, moderate in locking force, small in size, weight, power consumption and occupied resources, convenient and flexible to install and use and quite suitable for the field of on-orbitlocking and releasing in the microgravity active vibration isolation technology.
