The invention, which relates to the field of automobile suspensions, provides an active adjusting system and adjusting method for an automobile rear wheel suspension. The active adjusting system comprises a displacement sensor for measuring the telescopic length of a front wheel shock absorber, a rear wheel shock absorber for providing support and shock absorption for a rear wheel, and a controller. The rear wheel shock absorber is a variable damping shock absorber. The controller is electrically connected with the displacement sensor and the rear wheel shock absorber, and the controller adjusts the damping of the rear wheel shock absorber according to a measurement signal of the displacement sensor. According to the active adjusting system and the adjusting method, the telescopic length of the front wheel shock absorber is measured; on the one hand, the telescopic length of the front wheel shock absorber can reflect the road surface condition most directly and truly, so that the control accuracy is improved; on the other hand, the damping control process of the shock absorber is simplified. Meanwhile, the debugging and using cost is greatly reduced. The system and the method can be widely applied.
