The invention discloses a damping device for a suspension of an extra-heavy vehicle. The damping device comprises an upper support, a lower support, a shock absorber and a spiral spring. The upper endand the lower end of the shock absorber are correspondingly hinged to the upper support and the lower support. The spiral spring is arranged on the shock absorber in a sleeving mode, the upper end and the lower end of the spiral spring are correspondingly abutted against the upper support and the lower support; the spiral spring comprises an equal-wire-diameter main section and a variable-wire-diameter auxiliary section which are integrally manufactured, the equal-wire-diameter main section is arranged on the upper side of the variable-wire-diameter auxiliary section, and the wire diameter ofthe variable-wire-diameter auxiliary section is gradually increased from bottom to top. The suspension has the advantages of being compact in structure, large in load, large in stroke, free of maintenance and high in reliability, and can meet the requirements of an extra-heavy vehicle suspension for large load, large stroke and small arrangement space.
