The invention provides a charger and a charger control method. The charger charges a power storage device with the power supplied from an AC power supply, and is provided with a reactor (magnetic element), a current sensor for detecting a current flowing through the reactor, a temperature sensor for detecting the ambient temperature of the reactor, an inverter configured so as to be capable of adjusting the output of the charger and a control device for controlling the inverter. The control device controls the inverter in such a manner that when the output of the temperature sensor is higher than a predetermined temperature, a limiting processing of limiting an output power upper limit value of the charger to be the power lower than a rated power of the charger and continuing the output ofthe charger, is carried out, and the output of the charger is stopped when the output of the current sensor exceeds a predetermined value during the limiting processing.
本发明提供充电器及充电器的控制方法,充电器利用从交流电源供给的电力对蓄电装置进行充电。充电器具备电抗器(磁性元件)、检测在电抗器中流动的电流的电流传感器、检测电抗器的周边温度的温度传感器、构成为能够调整充电器的输出的逆变器及控制逆变器的控制装置。控制装置以如下方式控制逆变器:在温度传感器的输出比预定温度高的情况下,执行将充电器的输出电力上限值限制为比充电器的额定电力低的电力并使充电器的输出继续的限制处理,在限制处理的执行期间电流传感器的输出超过了预定值的情况下停止充电器的输出。
