The invention relates to a tractor power split hybrid power system and a control method thereof. The tractor power split hybrid power system is characterized in that a power coupling speed change system and a hydraulic control system are arranged in a gearbox of the system, the power coupling speed change system comprises a power coupling subsystem and a multi-gear speed change subsystem, and thepower coupling subsystem comprises a mechanical transmission device and a power switching element; the tractor gearbox controller carries out coordination control on the power coupling subsystem and the multi-gear speed change subsystem according to tractor operation power requirements, and power distribution of double power sources of the tractor power dividing hybrid power system under differentworking modes and operation gears is achieved.
