The embodiment of the invention discloses a motor vehicle tail gas monitoring method and related equipment. The method comprises steps of acquiring a target vehicle type of a target vehicle; obtaininga corresponding diagnosis protocol in a preset corresponding relationship according to the target vehicle type; reading target state data of the target vehicle by adopting the corresponding diagnosisprotocol based on a vehicle-mounted diagnosis system of the target vehicle; and determining whether tail gas emission of the target vehicle exceeds the standard or not according to the target state data. The method is advantaged in that the vehicle tail gas can be comprehensively and accurately monitored.
