The invention discloses a gantry trolley with a rotation mechanism and a control method of the gantry trolley. The gantry trolley comprises a trolley operation mechanism, the rotation mechanism and ahanger lifting mechanism, wherein the trolley operation mechanism is located at the bottom layer of the gantry trolley, the rotation mechanism is arranged on the trolley operation mechanism, and the hanger lifting mechanism is driven to rotate to change the direction in which the hanger lifting mechanism grabs or puts a container. On the basis of the structure and working mode of the gantry trolley, the container can interact with an AGV perpendicular to the bulkhead wall after horizontally rotating by 90 degrees at the tail of a cross beam, the mode that the driveway of the AGV is parallel tothe bulkhead wall can be changed into the mode that the driveway is perpendicular to the bulkhead wall, the turning frequency of the AGV is reduced, the dispatching path of the AGV is simplified, andthe operation efficiency of the AGV is significantly improved. The back reach of the cross beam is shortened, and the wheel pressure on the land side of a quayside crane is lowered. Moreover, the hanger lifting mechanism is provided with at least two hangers, at least two containers can be grabbed at a time, and the effects of improving the matching relation of interaction between the AGV of a wharf and the quayside crane, and improving the overall loading and unloading efficiency of the quayside crane are achieved.
