    Methods and systems for slowing down an aircraft having a propeller (29). The method comprises operating the propeller (29) at a reference speed with the propeller blades (30) in a first position, applying a load (204) to the propeller (29) to slow down a rotational speed of the propeller (29) when the propeller (29) is in a windmilling state or just before the propeller (29) enters the windmilling state, adjusting the propeller blades (30) to a second position in response to the load (204) being applied, to increase the rotational speed of the propeller (29) back towards the reference speed, and operating the propeller (29) at the reference speed with the propeller blades (30) in the second position.
