The present invention comprises a flexible heat exchange assembly for heating and thermal control the surface of a seat that is designed to prevent the blockage of fluid flow due to the pressure of anoccupant's weight, which generally consists of formed layers that create passages through which a heat exchange fluid flows. The upper surface seat cushioning material is formed such that there are recesses into which these fluid passages rest, thereby preventing the blockage of fluid flow when the pressure from the weight of an occupant deforms the cushion.
