The invention provides a stern deflector plate and a ship. An L-shaped stern deflector plate (5) is arranged on a stern outer plate of the ship body (2) of the ship (1) in a manner of projecting in the width direction of the ship body. The L-shaped stern deflector plate (5) is provided with the components of a base plate part (10) which extends in the width direction of the ship body; and a bent part (13) which is arranged at the end of the base plate part (10) and is bent upwards. Therefore, deflection is performed on water current which flows to an impeller surface through the L-shaped stern deflector plate (5) arranged at the stern of the ship body (2). The efficiency of the impeller (3) can be further improved, and furthermore a propelling force component which functions on the L-shaped stern deflector plate (5) can be further enlarged, thereby enlarging a force in the propelling direction and improving propelling performance.
