The invention relates to a system capable of automatically controlling the height of a flowerpot. The system comprises the flowerpot placed on the inner side of the wall of a windowsill. The system further comprises a liquid containing barrel mounted below the flowerpot and a heat absorption barrel mounted on the outer side of the wall of the windowsill. The heat absorption barrel is communicated with the liquid containing barrel. The heat absorption barrel and the liquid containing barrel contain liquid. The heat absorption barrel can absorb heat of sunlight and enables the liquid in the heat absorption barrel to absorb heat. A main piston capable of moving up and down is mounted in the liquid containing barrel and connected with a piston rod. The piston rod is connected with the bottom of the flowerpot. According to the system, the piston rod is made to ascend and descend through heat expansion and cold contraction of the liquid, so that the flowerpot is made to ascend and descend, and normal photosynthesis of a plant in the flowerpot is guaranteed.
